Alchester can help you with all your IT related setup of communication, equipment, internet connections and if needed, access to Cloud related services, PLUS all your portable tablet/smartphone devices that you’d like to use as well. And that’s just the installation services that can be provided! After that, and in conjunction with your Bookkeeper/Accountant, Alchester can assist with business analysis services, particularly WORKFLOW and KPI analysis, to ensure your business profits from the best reporting tools available.
Alchester has provided an overview of the choices available for installing each of the Reckon suite accounting of solutions.
MOBILE Tablet and smartphone usage is ideal for enquiries/lookup when on the road,
but for extended accounting/bookkeeping operations,
the laptop/PC client configurations are recommended.
For instance: iPADs running v6.0 are ideal for invoicing, as is v8.2
But attempting detailed access via iPhone v188.8.131.52 on a small screen size, is not ideal.
Generally speaking, Tablets with a detachable physical keyboard are ideal, leaving 100% of screen for data.
Combinations of Operating System and Browser, needs to be considered.
Known combinations: (June 2015)
– Android v4.4.3 with HTC browser, or with Firefox APP v38.0.0
KEYBOARDS on some smartPHONE devices may need reviewing.
IE: To ensure full use is available of QWERTY and/or full numeric and decimal features are present.
TIP: On Android phones a nice keyboard option to load as a FREE APP: is the Swiftkey keyboard”
which contains a compliment of calculator symbols and the needed decimal point character.
APPS. Note there are two distinct APPs available. One is a free, standalone APP called: “Reckon INVOICES”.
The other, fully integrated APP, linked to the Reckon ONE database of customers, projects and items: “Reckon APP”.
(ie: V2.1 API version 184.108.40.206 as at May 2015)
NOTE 3: From June 2015, Reckon ONE uses the simplified HTML5 industry standard browser interface.
Pre May 2015, Reckon ONE relied upon a BROWSER feature: MS Silverlight.
This is a PLUG-IN (Add-on, extension) feature for a Browser. Depending on the choice user’s have taken for their client PC/laptop/Tablet/smartphone, various Browsers are available. Examples are listed in the TERMINOLOGY section. Care is needed to select the right combination of Plug-ins and browsers, from different vendors to ensure compatibility. IE: Mozilla Firefox (Iceweasel, Mercury) v 37 with Silverlight
or: consider this article: https://community.reckon.com/reckon/topics/chrome-v42-compatibility-issue-with-silverlight
NOTE 4: Reckon INVOICES APP (standalone)
For a fuller explanation see this article. Not to be confused with Reckon APPs that link into other products.
NOTE 5: Capacities.
This is measured in what is called ‘names’. It should be made clear from the outset, that there is no limitation on the number of transactions (like invoices, bills, cheques, journals, adjustment notes, credit notes for instance).
But NAMES are: Customers (and their jobs), Suppliers, Superannuation names, and inventory items. The single-user and PREMIER versions of Reckon Accounts have one capacity, whilst the Enterprise version of Reckon Accounts, which is also the HOSTED implementation, has another.
TIP: The size of the database can be seen on desktop/Enterprise Reckon Accounts by using the CTL-1 key.
